Instructions:
a) A brief description of the topic, linking the selected readings to the student’s
approach to the topic (e.g., main themes the student will stress)
b) An analytical summary of the main themes or approaches of each work, including a
comparison or categorization of the works under review. (Long descriptions should
be avoided.)
c) Analysis of similarities and differences in the approaches and findings of the works in
question. What range of approaches is used, and how does the choice of approaches
affect the findings of the authors? Comparison of biases or assumptions of the
authors, and the impact of these on the way in which the subject is approached or on
the conclusions reached.
d) Critical assessments of the approach, reasoning, documentation, or other aspects of
the individual items reviewed.
e) Main conclusions and utility of the pieces reviewed for studying the topic at hand.
f) Gaps or inadequacies in the way the readings treat the topic should be addressed.

Proper citation of sources and presentation of the notes and bibliography will form a
component of evaluation of the paper. A correctly formulated bibliography should be
included at the end of the paper, and references to particular sources should be cited in
the text, using either the parenthetical citation system or foot/endnotes.
