Organize your original post to correspond with the numbering/labeling of the questions below. Please remember to give page references from our assigned readings to support your answers for questions.
Please respond to all parts of the question below in your original post and label clearly each part to which you are responding, to match the labeling of the question itself. Failure to do so will result in loss of points.
Question 1: From your reading of chapter 7 of Back to Virtue, name and discuss 3 insights you gained about the deadly sin of Pride — and how to combat it with the virtue of humility. Please number each insight in your answer to help distinguish them.
Question 2: From your reading of chapter 11 of Back to Virtue, name and discuss 3 insights you gained about the deadly sin of Sloth/aka spiritual laziness or refusing to work on our task of reaching heaven — and how to combat it with the virtue of hungering for God and God’s Truth. Please number each insight in your answer to help distinguish them.
Question 3: From your reading of chapter 12 of Back to Virtue, name and discuss 3 insights you gained about the deadly sin of Lust — and how to combat it with the virtue of purity of heart. Please number each insight in your answer to help distinguish them.
Question 4: What did Peter Kreeft help you understand in chapters 11 & 12 of Back to Virtue regarding the relationship between the deadly sin of Sloth, which is so prevalent in our times, and our culture’s current fixation on the deception that sexual pleasures can satisfy the restless human heart? Really put on your thinking cap on this one!!
Question 5: Name and discuss at least one key learning about the end of life and/or the end of this world that our assigned reading in Theology for Beginners helped you to understand. What further questions did this reading raise for you, if any.
Question 6: What insights from the video on the Christian meaning of human suffering were especially helpful to you — especially as you think about your work with patients who are suffering?
Question 7: Why is good palliative care important, especially for the spiritual welfare of our patients?
