Civil Rights

Martin Luther King, Jr., “Letter from a Birmingham Jail” (1963), AND Malcolm X, “Harlem Freedom Rally Speech” (1960) For your journal entry this week you have two primary source documents from African-American leaders strongly connected with this period of Civil Rights in American history. While contemporaries, they were very different in ideology and approach to the issues of that moment. In your entry, respond to these documents by identifying a key way in which they are similar and one in which they are different and discuss how this impacts your understanding of the Civil Rights movements (yes, plural) of that time.
