Crash and the Great Depression

Crash and the Great Depression.ppt (9.197 MB) Review this series of slides showing a collection of paintings and photographs capturing the experiences and emotions of the nation during the Great Depression. There are a few slides of text to provide some context of what you are seeing in the paintings (these are reflections upon the conditions so look for meaning when analyzing and interpreting these images). Keep in mind that this economic collapse was far different from those that had previously happened in American history. Simply by using the “Depression” moniker a greater sense of the psychological impact this moment had on Americans of all walks of life. So recovery would not only need to address a better economy, but also need to make Americans feel better about their lives and opportunities. Hope had to be restored in the American Dream, both access to it and an ability to achieve it. After reviewing these images, identify the three you found most interesting and discuss why in your Week Eight journal entry.
