Evaluate the corporate governance structures and mechanisms in place for your chosen listed company as disclosed in the company’s most recent annual report.
Ensure that you:
(i)
Analyse the strengths of the structures and mechanisms;
(ii)
Identify any weaknesses in governance; and
(iii)
Comment on the extent of compliance with the ASX Corporate Governance Principles and Recommendations with 2010 amendments.
Question 2
Examine the most recent sustainability report from your chosen company.
Describe and evaluate the following elements in this report:
(i)
Evidence that sustainability is a critical part of the company’s mission, and motivations for issuing a sustainability report.
(ii)
The scope of the sustainability report.
(iii)
Attempts to address the GRI content and quality principles, if applicable.
(iv)
Key achievements in sustainability initiatives.
(v)
Main findings in the assurance or review of the sustainability report by external committees, accounting firms or consultants.
(vi)
Conclude with an overall evaluation of the report.
Prepare an 8 slide ppt. presentation for feedback purposes only).
Slide 1 – title, company and your name.
Then address the seven criteria (one per slide) in the Project 2 Rubric (ignore the two “reflection on feedback” criteria).
These are 1. Introduction/Key issues identified for CG 2. Strengths of CG structure 3. Weaknesses in CG structure 4. Extent of compliance with code. 5. Key issues identified for Sustainability reporting (SR) 6. Evaluate Elements (strengths/weaknesses) of SR 7. Overall evaluation of SR.
Include enough bullet points on each slide so your proposed coverage can be evaluated.
Submit your ppt. to Jodie via email, (title the email “Project 2”). Submit by 5pm 17 May.
