Environmental Ethics and Elephant Ivory

Your paper must analyze environmental ethics and elephant ivory, and you must use references to support your analysis, including references from class readings (our class books which are Being Ecological, by Timothy Morton, Emplotting Virtue: A Narrative Approach to Environmental Virtue Ethics, by Brian Treanor, The Great Derangement: Climate Change and the Unthinkable, by Amitav Ghosh, and Boundaries: A Casebook in Environmental Ethics, (second edition) by Christine E. Gudorf and James E. Huchingson) as well as references from other readings done outside of class (e.g., books/articles you found that are related to your research topic). Make sure that there is an overarching theme, position, or argument that your paper is expressing. Discuss how deontology, utilitarianism, biocentric, and/or ecocentric fits with my research paper topic. Websites are acceptable references, but your bibliography should not be composed of mostly or entirely websites. Whether using few sources or many, you should express a thorough and critical engagement with your research materials. Make sure to address some environmental issue(s) from the perspective of ethics. Do not focus only on scientific information regarding your topic. Papers should use footnotes or parenthetical citations (with page numbers) for any quotations or references used, and a works cited page that includes the bibliographic information for all sources used. Use MLA format.
