All organisations need to adopt proactive strategic management. To ‘stand still’ is not an option (if you want to remain in existence)!
This doesn’t mean that organisations always get it right but it’s important that they do it.
In the unit we cover a wide range of Strategic Management issues including numerous case studies in varying depth.
There is obviously not enough time to cover everything in depth.
This assignment enables students to examine in more detail Strategic Management in companies / organisations that are of particular interest to them.
It can also be started from ‘Day 1’ of the semester and will enable students to explore the wonderful world of strategic management by doing their own research on how it is practiced in an organisation that is of interest to them.
You can look at a bad example or a good one or even a bad example that became good.
In doing so you should use the concepts you have learnt from this subject and your own research.
An ability to utilize sources such as the Internet and University library facilities to search, locate and summarize data relevant to the assignment. You will be assessed on the quality of sources of information, how well you use these resources to support your arguments and your referencing skills.
You are expected to use at least twelve (12) different peer – reviewed journals. The use of WIKIPEDIA online encyclopedia is not allowed. Use of Wikipedia may result in a fail grade in this essay. You must use Harvard Referencing (in-text citations and full references).
Your paper should be presented in standard academic essay format. The format must be in 12pt font and 1.5 spaced.
You should submit an electronic copy of your assignment to Turnitin only. Please do not supply a hardcopy.
