Receptors can be classified into ‘receptor super-families’ based on the way in which they cause a response inside the cell on binding of an agonist.
Explain the three main mechanisms by which substances that bind to cell surface receptors are able to cause a biochemical response inside cells.
In each case, you should also give two specific examples of drugs that interact with a receptor that utilizes that mechanism. The client has no preference on the drugs selected.
Explain how the action of each drug you have selected causes a clinical response, discussing the efficacy of each drug in clinical trials.
When talking about the efficacy of clinical trial results, if relevant, please mention statistics e.g p-values which will rule out chance findings.
