Students will work with a learning program, or part of a learning program such as a particular concept or sets of skills, and develop literacy and numeracy strategies and tools to support student learning. The strategies and tools for literacy are to include a focus on writing; the strategies and tools for numeracy may include a combination of enactive (concrete material or manipulatives), iconic and symbolic representations. The selection of strategy and design of the tools to support student learning are to be justified with reference to the literature and ‘best practice’. You are also to write a model of the written text or product (or part of) that students are to produce.
You will need to
-Determine the literacy and numeracy demands of a learning program or part of a program for the English curriculum area;
-create or utilise a strategy to help students meet the writing demands of the subject area (remembering that many curriculum areas use writing as a means of assessment); take aspects of the Teaching and Learning cycle for writing and outline how you will use them to support students to meet the specific needs of the curriculum activities or texts that students will write;
-create a strategy to help students meet the demands of responding to a problem or question with numeracy content in the subject area (remembering that many curriculum areas have particular expectations for such responses in assessment work);
-create 2 tools to help students with the writing demands of a curriculum area and particular text(s); you are to create templates, models, argumentation structures etc
-create 1-2 tools to help students with the demands of responding to a problem or question with numeracy content in the subject area; -create a full or part model of a written text that students are to imitate (prepare at least one full written page)
