People who dispute the role of the media in violent behavior often argue that children who are already aggressive (based on temperament or genetics/biology) are drawn to violent media. The article also describes many criticisms of the design and assumptions of various studies which claim that violent media is connecting to (or even directly causes) violence among youth.

So, now the questions is put to you: What role does social learning play (or not play) in the perpetuation of youth violence? 
You will need to support your opinion with scholarly evidence, in a 4-6 page essay, using APA style (double spaced, Times New Roman 12pt font, 1” margins). You may use the first person (“I,” “my opinion,” etc.) for this essay. Use the following to guide the development of your essay:

 Clearly state your opinion on the topic (10 points)
 In an introductory paragraph, provide a description of at least 3 main reasons for your opinion which you will further develop in the rest of the essay. (25 points)
 The main text of your essay should then go through each of your (at least) 3 main reasons for your opinion and explain them further. (75 points)
o Through the course of the essay, you should provide at least 5 examples of research or scholarly work relevant to your opinion and reasons for your opinion. Be as thorough as possible in describing what the research/scholarly work says (pretend your reader hasn’t read anything about it), and connect the research/scholarly work clearly to your overall opinion on the topic.

 At the end of the essay, you should also include at least 1 paragraph of personal reflection. In this section, you may speak more personally and informally about the topic and you can choose to include responses to any of the following: (25 points)
o Describe any thoughts and feelings about the topic that you feel comfortable sharing. 
o Talk about how your opinion changed or did not change in the course of writing the essay. 
o How might your opinion of this article impact your parenting/childcare choices, either now or in the future? 
o How might your opinion impact your professional work, now or in the future?
o What kinds of media would children have access to in an ideal society?
o What interventions can you think of that would help to decrease youth violence?
