Order Description

Countries use power over other nations, businesses, people, governments, etc. to do things like conduct trade, negotiate treaties, enforce sanctions, and win hearts and minds. Some of the tools at a nation’s disposal are the elements of national power which include Diplomacy, Information, Military, and Economy (DIME). During the Arab Spring millions of tweets played a significant role influencing the political debates (O’Donnell, 2011). In this instance social media directly impacted the power of the Egyptian government. The people used Information power to spread a message quickly.
How do you think social media influences the elements of a country’s national power (DIME)? Be sure to use examples of DIME in your answer. HINT- This is not a question about Operation Security (OPSEC) in the military.
