The Paulo Freire Charter School is a school that strives to meet and exceed industry standards for ethical business practices, product responsibility, and supply chain management. There is a safe and healthy work environment where diversity is embraced and various opportunities for training, growth and advancement are strongly encouraged for all employees. The Paulo Freire Charter School is committed to growing strategic relationships with a wide range of local organizations and programs that develop and strengthen communities within the region.
Paulo Freire Charter School further aims to grow its operations while minimizing carbon footprint, reducing waste, and conserving energy and water. It has also developed a very extensive code of business conduct which involves maintaining a positive work environment, representing the organization with integrity. Its culture emphasizes on upholding human rights in their operations around the globe, commitment to lawful, honest, transparent ethical behaviors, and they even expect their suppliers, agents, and business partners to follow their suit (Fidler, 2000).
Maintaining cultural expectations is so important to the school that annual mandatory training is required of all employees, including executive leadership in the organization. The Paulo Freire Charter School has learned that both intrinsic and extrinsic rewards can be utilized in keeping employees motivated in meeting the innovation goals of the school. The institution has promoted an environment of community and philanthropy among its employees, and aims to donate to community causes, with a focus on programs that promote education, health and the arts (Fidler, 2000).
It would stand to reason that the leadership styles needed in this organization would be leaders that would be motivational, and encourage their employee’s creativity in driving innovation in academic strategy. The cultural “feel” of the organization is that “intrinsic” motivators are encouraged in meeting the goals of the organization. Pride motivates employees, which in turn fosters creativity and eventually leads to innovation. Hence human resources and leaders in the organization would benefit from hiring people who evidence the motivation and creative skills needed in continuing the vision for the future success of the school. The best job candidates are those who not only possess the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities, but whose personal values and characteristics are compatible with the organizational culture.
Of priority is hiring individuals who demonstrate innovative thinking in their areas of specialization. Hiring these types of candidates would support the vision and mission of the organization. Human resources orientation and training programs will also be critical in educating new staff early on so that the mission and vision of the organization is clear as well as the organizational expectations in their new roles. It is evident that the future of innovative learning will require a continued influx of a highly skilled workforce in their areas of specialization (Fidler, 2000).
The school should push for innovation, and currently provide incentive programs to their employees to encourage them to think innovatively for the future of communication technology, and in maintaining the organization competitive and sustainable for decades to come. So sharing the business model, strategic initiatives, mission, and vision of the organization with employees, will ensure the entire organization moves forth into the future with shared goals and a united front to continued success in education industry.
The marketing mix is a set of five controllable variables needed to meet the needs of the School’s target markets. In the marketing world they are called the 5 P’s and they include Product strategy, Pricing strategy, Place strategy, Promotion strategy, and People strategy.
In considering the Product strategy, the school offers high standard and modern education to the students. Students enjoy variety of products such as wide library database and recreational activities. In pricing strategy, the school charges low school fees compared to other schools of its caliber. The school is strategically placed to allow for easy access even by public transport. The school aggressively advertises itself through websites and other social Medias as a way of promoting itself. It also provides high quality modern education to her students.
Strengths
The school boasts of using a prominent person’s name and is known for good performance in secular education. The organization also has highly qualified teachers and members of staff that facilitate smooth and efficient delivery of services. The school uniquely provides classical education when compared to other schools thus developing students with strong intellectual and ethical foundations.
Weaknesses
The school has not been able to spread everywhere countrywide to reach almost everyone who wants to be part of it. The school does not have sufficient funds to carry out her operations and other activities on time.
Opportunities
The school should come up with many branches countrywide to increase their capacity and eventually the revenue earned.
Threats
With the recent downturns of the economy many parents have had a negative impact on their credit scores which limits their ability to take their children to the school.
Highly Competitive Market
There is several charter schools opened up in various places such as Baystate Academy Charter School which gives The Paulo Freire Charter School very big competition.
The management of the institutions should be able to appraise the performance of the institution’s resources particularly the intake of students. The performance of the school should also be properly checked and compared with the previous years. Learning environment should be conducive especially the classrooms and there must be a good relationship between the staff and students. The students and the teachers should be given opportunity to air their view about the school’s rules, regulations and even give opinions on how to improve weak points. The administration of the school should do a lot of research on some of their competitors’ success points and maximize on their weaknesses.
Manager should ensure that the employees are encouraged to work and given room to make decisions on their own by trusting the staffs in getting the job done and believing in their abilities. Every employee’s decision should be respected and given chance to encourage innovation and innovativeness among employees. The management should possess good problem solving skills that would help them in tackling barriers and roadblocks in the businesses processes by being able to take account of the current situation or changing direction and further creating challenges to the employees (Fidler, 2000).
As achievements are associated with great responsibility and effort so is the success of the business world. Successes of various businesses primarily depend on the relationship between the businesses, their immediate environment, and the society. The immediate environment entails the people who include teachers, parents and the students and the physical environment (Fidler, 2000). Although most businesses focus on the profit maximization, the issue of social and corporate responsibility cannot be assumed especially in a school environment. The importance of social and corporate responsibility has forced the introduction of various units of social and corporate responsibility in the business related courses to enlighten companies and the society.
