Systems Theory
This paper provides a mechanism to demonstrate the abilities to apply concepts learned in this course and to write for an academic audience. Task: Propose a plan to utilize systems theory, action research, principles of leadership and collaboration and ethics theory to address a problem related to public health: Describe the problem and the need for a solution.
PROBLEM:
Quality care for elders at assisted living facilities. Details: Beyond the basic humanistic and clinical desires such as the need for kindness, compassion, and competent medical needs; there are consistent struggles between implementing policies that promote safety, independence, creativity, and employee training at these centers. As a result, I would like to design proven strategies and collaborative efforts that offer viable solutions to very common and well-known problems that afflict not only the residents, but additionally, their families and the facilities’ staff needs. Some of the issues targeted are: resident dissatisfaction with facility provided meals; depression; anxiety; family member guilt; and staff’s lack of knowledge and training in handling residents with mental illnesses, such as dementia. Systems Theory and Action Research in Public Health: A Clarion Call for Evidenced Based Practices at Assisted Living Facilities Scoring Guide for part assignment: Paper: Analyzes how systems theory could be used to address the public health problem, identifying strengths and any unavoidable weaknesses of the proposed intervention. Analyzes how action research could be used to address a public health problem, identifying possible difficulties in implementation. Applies ethical theory to provide the rationale for a proposed public health intervention, noting any limitations in such evaluations and/or discrepancies between them. Applies principles of leadership and collaboration in a proposed public health intervention, evaluating how they should impact the outcomes. Conclusion Page Additional Instructions: Apply ethical theory to provide the rationale for the proposed intervention. Analyze how systems theory, action research, and principles of leadership and collaboration should be implemented to resolve this problem.
