The Transformative Power of Aesthetics.

This research paper is going to be an in depth study of the power image has in art. More specifically, I want to explore this inherent power in aesthetics to transform a space (therefore reality). It is going to be Philosophy forward in arguing the presence and location of power (ontology) and also Psychology forward to explain what we do with it personally as well as societally. Overall, this paper is for an Art History course, therefore we must bring in a few examples of works that speak to this phenomenon. An example of a work like that would be Eva Hesse’s ‘Hang Up’ piece. Not limited to any specific time period. I am including a rough outline of my ideas I’d like to see flushed out in the paper. Also included will be the syllabus that can further explain Art and Power as the class is being taught. Feel free to reach out and run ideas by me for artwork ideas. The names of philosophers and thinkers I’d like to build the argument with are on the outline I made. There needs to be a final page with proper bibliography in Chicago style and I’d like footnotes imbedded in the text as well. The sources for the paper must be scholarly and credible, only use website as source for artworks.
