You are required to write a short paper, worth 60 points, regarding the criminal justice themes learned throughout this introductory course to one of the following movies relating to an aspect of the criminal justice system: Key points on structure: • Your paper will be typed, double spaced and 1,000 words in length (approximately 3 pages long). • You must include a word count on a cover page with your name and the name of the movie. • Your paper must be double spaced with 1-inch margins and in 12 point Times New Roman Font. • Your paper should have the following headings: Introduction, Plot Summary, Criminal Justice Themes, and Conclusion. • You must relate the movie to at 4 specific themes/issues that we dealt with in class or that are in the book. When you discuss these issues/themes, you must specifically reference the class notes or the book. NOTE: Within your discussions of the 4 (or more) specific issues/ themes you chose to write about, be sure to include the topics mentioned in the learning objectives below. While you do not have to discuss diversity and ethical challenges in all of the issues/themes you discuss, these topics should be incorporated wherever appropriate. Following a one paragraph introduction, you will first briefly summarize the plot of the movie in 1-2 paragraphs. Then, I want you to discuss themes (at least 4) that you see in the movie that we have discussed in class. For instance, if you are dealing with a courtroom drama, you could discuss the elements of the trial that are shown in the movie, or if you are discussing a police movie you could talk about examples of police corruption, if any, in the movie. Be sure that each new theme is discussed in its own paragraph. Then, you should have include a concluding paragraph as well. This exercise will require that you write clearly and concisely. You will be judged on grammar and spelling as well as content.
