A proposal is similar to an outline of what you intend to present with enough detail for the reader to conceptualize your presentation. As social workers you may be required to write proposals for a variety of activities. Your workshop proposal represents the type of submission you would make to a conference committee or to a funding agency for approval.
• Decide on a topic you want to develop and facilitate for the class.
• Your topic will be a healing/helping approach that integrates Indigenous healing
principles/methods with Western-based concepts.

• Develop a proposal for a presentation of that topic in a workshop format.
• Your proposal will be handed in prior to your workshop presentation.
• It must be double-spaced with a cover page of your workshop title.
• The following headings that are in bold are to be used in this proposal in the same
order as presented below:
Title & Poster of the Workshop:
Be creative! It should be clear what your topic is, therefore give it a name that will be appealing to a possible audience, as it would appear in a conference agenda. Your workshop poster should be appealing, providing enough detail about your topic without giving away too much information. Include the date and time of your workshop. You will know this in advance.
Information on the Facilitator:
Provide your contact information. Share any personal information about you that is pertinent to being a facilitator of this workshop. This is similar to a brief biography that describes your work experience and interests. About 100 words is sufficient.
Purpose of the Workshop:
What are the objectives of your workshop? Write a few paragraphs about how this workshop will benefit your participants. About 125 words should be sufficient.
Target Audience:
You will be doing this presentation for INSW students. Nevertheless, describe your target audience and who this workshop would best be suited for if you were to do it in a community setting.
