full topic: Conventional Fossil Fuel (gas, coal, petroleum) power plants

You are to write a technical paper on the pros and cons for the type of power source you choose. You are to write about the technical details of how it works, limitations, and problems, using the physics and chemistry we are studying in this course.

Do not write about economic, social, ecological, political or environmental, aspects. Those would belong to other course types than this one. Also, avoid going off subject and discussing things like global warming, as this is supposed to be a technical paper related to what we are covering in this course.

Do go into the physics and/or chemistry of the type of power generation you choose.

Mechanics of writing, which includes appropriate length,

normally be worth 20 points, but the grader reserves the
right to increase this number if the paper is totally lacking

only a few pages of poorly written rambling, it should receive
a failing grade regardless of anything else.

References: This category counts for up to 20 points based on the
number and quality of references. There should be a minimum of
about 7-8 references (including the 2 outside books) for an acceptable
kind of paper.

Topic: This category is worth 10 points,
This is based on writing on one of the Topics in the list.

Supportive Ideas, and Research: Half of the paper should be graded on
how well the student supports the topic with the research they have done.
I am looking for creative papers that show that the students have done a
significant amount of research on the topic. Included in this category, is the level of
the paper, which is expected to be college level.
