Assignment # 1 (3000 Words):
Analyse and compare and contrast the rise of al Qaeda and Islamic state.
Make a projection-which one of these terrorist organisations will survive and/or flourish the longer? Your projection must show causes and reasons for one possibly outlasting the other.
Assignment # 2 (3,000 words)
Describes and analyses:
a) the counter-terrorism measures adopted against the movement described and analysed in assignment 1 above (i.e. the one which you projected will outlast the other) (e.g. military and / or criminal justice models of counter-terrorism)
b) the legitimacy and effectiveness of these counter-terrorism measures.
Note these are two separate Master level assignments, each with its own word count i.e. 3000 and each must have references (Harvard style). Must be Turnitin checked
In keeping with academic standards, the assignments should combine three ingredients: Insightful and in-depth analysis; Originality of argument; and Mastery of the academic literature.
It is expected that some reference should come from the lecture materials included below
