ORGA 233 – SB51 Group Field Study Assignment (report 20%)

 Working in teams, students are expected to collaboratively design change plan for an organization partner. The change plan should be designed to assist in resolving a change management issue presented by an organization partner. This may include specific details on the what and how to effect proposed change plan, including measures to evaluate and reduce challenges such as resistance and complacency towards change initiatives. Each organization partner will work with students to explain and clarify what their needs consist of.

This assignment gives students the opportunity to apply the theories and concepts of change management presented on the course ‘Organizational Effectiveness and change’. Upon completion of this assignment, students would have gained theoretical change management knowledge and its application to an organizational change management situation. Students would have developed leadership, communication and team working skills, as well as confidence that practicing change agents need in organizations.

A general guideline to complete this group assignment is stated below. This is not inclusive; thus, students are encouraged to include innovative ideas and plans. Additional contributions to the stated guidelines would attract more marks for each group.

 • Once a student group has been assigned to an organization partner, be sure to get the necessary key points on desired changes as presented by the organization partner in class sessions. See class schedule on date and time organization partners will be presenting their specific expectations and needs to the class.

• Research about the case organization and the identified problem. Based on the relevant knowledge derived from the course, design a change plan that generates advice and assist to resolve the identified problem. The plan should be very specific and detailed with a procedure on actualizing proposed initiatives. It should be feasible and realistic given the organization context.

• Write a detailed report of the designed plan. This should include the chosen organizational change theory applied in the case, with other innovative and practical ideas. Report should be written with APA reference and citation style used throughout.
