Role of Education in Social Inequality

Education has been termed as the key to equality and equity, especially when it comes to gender. This means that education is the basic tool that has been most important in socializing students to get to learn about inequality and how it can be done away with. These inequalities dealt with within the educational system include racial inequality and discrimination, gender inequality, among other types of imbalances. However, even though education is important in doing this, there have been many challenges in putting away some kinds of inequality like racial inequality. Others have been very successful, like gender inequality, and therefore, it is important to review how the education curriculum has been worked on to enable inequality.

Firstly gender inequality has been emphasized for a very long period and what happens with this is that girls, ladies, and women have been empowered in different ways. They have acted perfectly per the kind of empowerment provided to them. This has been successful because it is easy to identify women and put them in leadership positions in educational institutions. Therefore, influencing the female gender to a great extent even though this has come up with its negative outcomes. For example, the men and boys being forgotten and being too far behind cannot catch up with most ladies who have been given a very wide chance and opportunity for them to succeed.

Racial inequality has been the most difficult one, and it is possible to state that the education system has reproduced this kind of inequality. One of the reasons why it is difficult to address the issue is that there has to be a mixed form of learning whereby the whites and the blacks are mixed. In this case, it is difficult to prevent racism as apart from the impact of the teacher, the students among themselves have their own beliefs. It becomes very difficult to make them unlearn what they believe in. therefore, the students get to act according to what they believe despite the efforts of the teachers.
