Introduction.

Before one engages in any work activity a lot of questions run through the mind. The most important question one asks is the amount of pay to be received. This paper tries to show that as much as workers face problems while at work, the hiring of scabs is justified.

Minimum wage rate has led to the vicious cycle of poverty. Workers earn the same amount of money despite working 540 hours longer. PBS video showed that congress tried to keep minimum wage low while increasing taxes. This would have widened the gap between rich and poor. If labor laws stating minimum wages are enacted, then the cycle of poverty will be broken and economy improved.

America has made lots of progress by enacting labor laws. Despite this, other laws should be enacted to protect entire labor force. In some states people are discriminated based on their gender identity. In the AFL-CIO website I found that only 8 states and the District of Columbia ban discrimination due to gender identity. People should be hired on the basis of their productivity and not gender identity. For employees not to be oppressed by their employers, they join or form labor unions. This provides a channel to stop unfair treatment when at work as well as make demands on behalf of the employees.

Conclusion.

Labor unions are good as they provide a channel of communication between employers and employees. However as talks between the two parties continue, employees do not work. This is a loss of time and revenue thus employers hire scabs stand in. Hiring of scabs should be legalized as they produce at times when production would be halted.

Introduction.

During the normal operations of carrying out duties, one is faced with a number of challenges. These challenges may lead to ones revolt towards the employers or simply not performing the duties at all. This response tries to show that hiring of scabs should be accepted and legalized.

I admit that employees are sometimes oppressed by their employers. This mostly happens when employers prolong working hours but don’t increase the workers salaries. Low salaries received by employees are backed by the country’s legislations. For example, in the U.S.A the minimum wage rate is 7.25. The last time it was revised is four years ago. Increase in the minimum wage rate would attract more people to join the labor force. Teenagers who make up most of the population would be encouraged to work due to high wages. This in turn would better the economy because they are great spenders. Increase in wages also raises the average basic income of most families which is $20,000. This cannot support these families effectively all year round.

Despite all these difficulties faced by employees they finally have a way air their views legally. In March 2009, the employee free choice act was put in place. This gave employee unions more right with regards to unfair labor treatment. This causes lots of strikes bringing to halt production activities.

Conclusion.

If I was an employer and my employees went on strike on matters that would be solved in house, I would resolve to hiring of scabs because business has to go on and profits maximized thus I see no harm in hiring scabs to replace workers who are on strike.
