Please label each subparagrapgh “ Financial need, Professional interest, Future Social Work aspirations, Previous social work achievements, Honors and achievements) Financial need: talk about the need of not having enough resources and help from my family. Mention that i have a son and also need to provide for him and make child support payments while being a full time student enrolled in 21 hours at Prairie View A&M University. Stress the need for the money.. Professional interest: talk about when i came to Prairie View A&M University my mentors, PALS & Professors never gave up on me although i was rough and had a troubled background. Mention how they have shaped me to be the Pv man that i am today (taught me manners, helped me academically, helped me with my personal problems with my family and being a parent) mention how i am now a student leader not only amongst social workers but the school in general. Lead into now why now i am seeking to go into helping at risk children to help pave the way for the next generation to break the stigma and cycle that people have amongst African Americans. Mention that i am “All about the betterment of manhood for future generations “ as well as that I am going to be a positive role model in both male and females like and pay it forward and give back. Overall i plan to start off as a school social worker then branch out into advocacy.. Future social work aspirations: my future plans are going to grad school to get a dual degree with a masters in social work and in public administration to work in the macro level of social work to eventually become a director of social and corporate responsibility. Once i become a director of social and corporate responsibility talk more about the job duty and my plans to change low income areas around and build more resources, implement policies for these communities for healthcare, mental health and black owned businesses. Previous social work achievements: Social Work Action Club Secretary and Vice President. I also volunteer at Hempstead middle school to work with at risk juveniles and become a mentor to the kids in this low income area where it’s a high rate of poverty and no upward. I come from a low income project area in east Austin and i know what it’s like and had to grow up faster than an average kid because of my environment. I am proud of where I’m from because of the lessons I’ve learned. I am a product of my environment although i come from the ghetto but i am a good product. I am resilient and didn’t let where I’m from, my family issues or anything stop me from achieving and going to better myself and get my education. “ My passion for this is because i see that this country is not for black people and y’all know that this society is not for black people! This society is for young men Running around neighborhoods knowing that if they don’t make a play, if they don’t get a scholarship they going to die in that neighborhood! They gone end up another statistic that “America” has about black men and i refuse to sit around and not help and change those negative stereotypes around. I have a testimony. I’ve been through so much and i look at it as God has me here for a reason. I’ve done so much and went to college and left my son at home and all the bullshit I’ve had to go through to get to where I’m at and to have this reputation and to have changed my life around Honors and achievements: pvamu academic deans list, • Student Government Association (SGA)- Senator of Alumni Affairs-2017-Current • Student Government Association (SGA) – Senator of Student Employment-2015-2016 • Pre-Alumni Association- Vice President 2017-Current • Pre-Alumni Association – Membership Director 2017-Current • Social Work Action Club (S.W.A.C.)
