Information Competence (IC) Assignment

This Information Competence you will develop a topic and thesis statement related to the particular aspect of the film that interests you. The focus of your thesis should be a thematic, cultural, or ideological topic, but you will also be doing an analysis of formal and aesthetic elements in your film

You will start the research on your film by considering not only the film itself, but also related subjects and topics that pertain to the thesis you’ve developed concerning your film. You may also include research on the development and production of the film, including studio and personnel involved in its production. Cultural or audience research might also be useful in the exploration of your thesis and chosen film. The result of this preliminary research will be compiled as an annotated bibliography and submitted as your IC Assignment. This preliminary research will then aid in the completion of the final paper itself.

The annotated bibliography should include five book sources; five peer-reviewed scholarly or academic journals; five popular review sources; and five miscellaneous sources (websites, interviews, video features, online essays, etc.), for a total of twenty sources. You may include more of each but a minimum of 5 per source type must be included. Proper citation and bibliographic form should be used (MLA, APA, or Chicago style is okay but be consistent maintain your chosen style throughout.

At the top of your bibliography, indicate the film you will be writing about and your topic thesis. Then present your typed, annotated bibliography with each group of source types separated and alphabetized according to the proper format. Indicate which style format you are using (MLA, APA, or Chicago) at the top of your paper.
