Totally agree with you on the fact that people tend to commit crimes because they see no other option. If you grew up seeing people commit crimes, then it is likely that if things do not work out one may turn into the life of crime. Social inequality has contributed to this factor in that at times people from poor backgrounds may lack the financial muscle to educate their children or rather they do not go to school. Eventually due factors such as deviance, these children may find it difficult to complete school and without the necessary skills they may not find employment turning into life of crime.

Great post on how social disorganization theory contributes to crime. Crime is linked to neighborhood ecological characteristics. The theory states that location of neighborhood is directly related to the chance of an individual engaging themselves in criminal behavior. Social disorganization theory can best describe occurrence of street crimes. In most movies one often sees that characters living in low income areas will likely turn into crime. An example is the movie Boyz N the Hood, Doughboy who lives in a community that is disorganized and that lacks any activities as well as community involvement turns to crime. This may explain why most non-profit organizations try to create programs that involve children in the community keeping them occupied.
